Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley on Tuesday lassoed his first 2017 commitment, and it comes from a familiar place.
Four-star power forward Daniel Mading plays for Hurley's dad, Bob Hurley, Sr., at St. Anthony in Jersey City, N.J.
According to Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels, the 6-8 Mading also had recruiting interest from Florida, Connecticut, LSU and Kansas. Scout.com ranks Mading as the No. 11 power forward in the 2017 class and the No. 64 overall prospect. Rivals also has him at 64. In previous interviews, Mading has said he tries to model his game after Indiana Pacers star Paul George.
