Bobby Hurley first noticed it on one of his initial recruiting trips. He was at a summer AAU event in Kentucky, and here was this lightening-quick guard getting into opponents on defense. The Arizona State coach saw all of Remy Martin’s physical skills, the foot speed, the lateral quickness, but more than anything, he saw the desire.
“Guys typically don’t focus on defense in the summer, so I knew he took it personal,’’ Hurley said.
