Houlihan, a 2016 Olympian and former Arizona State national champion, is ranked No. 4 in the world this year in the 1,500-meter. She is entered in that event and the 5,000 at U.S. nationals, Thursday-Sunday at Drake University in Des Moines.
After growing up in Sioux City, Iowa, Houlihan was a 12-time All-America at ASU, winning the NCAA 1,500 in 2014. She trains with Bowerman Track Club and was 11th in the 5,000 at the Rio Olympics.
