SALT LAKE CITY — Both teams started the game slowly as each squad's first two possessions of the game ended in three-and-outs.
The No. 4 Utah Utes got things going when quarterback Travis Wilson led a 7-play, 69-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Handley Harris.
But Utah only held the lead for maybe one real-time minute.
On the ensuing kickoff, Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Tim White went 100 yards for a touchdown, giving the Sun Devils their first touchdown return since 2012.
After Utah went three-and-out again, De'Chavon Hayes returned the punt for 48 yards and nearly gave ASU its second-consecutive touchdown return before getting stopped by Utah punter Tom Hackett.
