TEMPE - With three injured players, ASU basketball coach Bobby Hurley was looking for somebody else to step up. Someone did.
Freshman forward Taeshon Cherry scored a career-high 19 points and helped the Sun Devils (6-0) to a 89-71 win over Nebraska-Omaha Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
Cherry had been a highly-touted recruit out of El Cajon High School in San Diego but struggled with a knee injury the month before the season started. By the time he was at full strength, Hurley had settled on a lineup.
Given the opportunity as of late, Cherry has delivered.
