Freshman QB Jayden Daniels Named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week

TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels was named the Walter Camp FBS National Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, the Walter Camp Foundation announced on Sunday morning.

Daniels came through with a virtuoso performance, throwing for 408 yards – third-most by a freshman in school history – and three touchdowns in ASU's 31-28 upset of sixth-ranked Oregon on Saturday night.

Daniels ended the first half nearly flawless, completing 12-of-14 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown with his two incompletions coming on the final drive of the half. Daniels' 57-yard touchdown strike to junior wide receiver Frank Darby in the first quarter tied the game at 7-7 and also pushed Daniels passed Rudy Carpenter's single-season school record for most passing yards by a true freshman quarterback (2,273 yards) set in 2005.
