Arizona State women's basketball withstood USC's 3-point shooting early and inside game late Friday night, winning 63-58 in a Pac-12 opener.
The Sun Devils built a 14-0 lead late in the third quarter at Desert Financial Arena only to see it completely erased by a 14-0 USC run for 50-50.
ASU freshmen Jaddan Simmons and Katelyn Levings scored the next five points and the Sun Devils never trailed over the final eight minutes, forcing five USC missed shots over the final 2:30.
"I'm really proud of this young team," ASU coach Charli Turner Thorne said. "We were low energy (at the start).
