It is early in the 2022 recruiting cycle, but Arizona State has already landed quite the blow by securing a commitment from four-star safety Jaylin Marshall out of Hallandale High School (Fla.), which is Southeast of Fort Lauderdale.
Marshall, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety, had 23 offers, nine of those from SEC schools. Among those courting him were notable powers in Alabama, Florida and LSU. Other suitors included the school closest to home in Miami, as well as Oklahoma, Penn State and Pac-12 contender Utah.
It was a big commitment for the Sun Devils with defensive backs coach Chris Hawkins, a former standout at Pac-12 rival USC, the major coach involved in the the player's recruitment.
