Willie Atwood admits: When he walked into coach Bobby Hurley’s office last spring, he thought his Arizona State days might be over. After not playing much as a junior, he was prepared to leave the Sun Devils, sit out a season and spend his senior year elsewhere.
A 15-minute meeting with Hurley changed his mind.
“It was real direct, man," Atwood said. “Me and him, we were looking eye-to-eye. It was a thin line for me between staying and leaving. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I didn’t know if he wanted to keep me, either.
