Brady White, who began his football career at Arizona State and finished with three seasons at Memphis, is the recipient of the William Campbell Trophy.
The Campbell Trophy is annually awarded by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame to a player for combined academic success, football performance and leadership. It is known as the sport's academic Heisman award.
White, a doctoral student at Memphis, will receive a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship.
"I’ve got to thank my coaches an all academic support from elementary school through high school, at Arizona State and Memphis," White said.
