Just like he has the past five years, Taylor Kelly took the Arizona State practice field Wednesday. Only this time was different. Kelly didn’t line up at quarterback with the rest of the offense. Instead, he worked with senior quarterback Mike Bercovici, redshirt freshman Manny Wilkins and others.
ASU coach Todd Graham over the summer added Kelly – a three-year starter during his playing days – to his coaching staff. For now, Kelly’s official title is “offensive assistant,” but he’s soon expected to become a graduate assistant.
I recently sat down with Kelly, 24, to discuss this transition, as well as his recent past and future.
