Freshman Ethan Long homered with two outs in the ninth inning Friday night, lifting Arizona State baseball to a 5-4 win at Utah.
Long’s homer was his second this week and third of the season.
ASU trailed 3-1 after five innings before a three-run sixth with RBI hits by Kai Murphy, Joe Lampe and Drew Swift. Utah pulled even with a run in the bottom of the sixth at Smith’s Ballpark.
The Sun Devils turned a double play to escape further damage in the sixth. Their final three pitchers – Graham Osman, Cam Dennie (3-1) and Will Levine – allowed no runs over 3 2/3 innings.
