They’re the next wave out of the Arizona State backfield, two freshmen from Texas.
Eno Benjamin and Trelon Smith have spent most of this season waiting behind senior running backs Demario Richard and Kalen Ballage.
But their time is coming.
“We talk about it quite a bit,’’ Benjamin said Wednesday. “Just (like), we can’t wait until next year. Next year is definitely our year.’’’
Said Smith: “Two young cats coming in from out of Texas.”
With Richard and Ballage, ASU’s backfield has been set for most of the last two seasons. Entering Saturday’s contest at UCLA, the duo has combined for 4,473 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns.
