Alan Trammell is in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and a Detroit legend, playing his entire 20-year major league career with the Tigers and managing them for three seasons.
He knows what it takes to succeed in the sport and in Motown and believes Spencer Torkelson can do both.
"He is a strong young man and he's athletic and his arm strength," Trammell said Thursday, a day after the Tigers chose Arizona State's Torkelson with the No. 1 pick in the major league draft. "You add all that together and we got a special guy, there's no question about it.
