College football coaches are willing to go anywhere to find talent.

But it's not exactly convenient to get to Palmdale, Calif., a drive of more than 60 miles north of Los Angeles with the San Gabriel Mountains in between.

That journey on State Route 14, or the Antelope Valley Freeway, has paid off handsomely for Arizona State.

First with Derek Hagan, the school leader in all major receiving categories, but now more than a decade later with Demario Richard, who needs just eight yards in the Territorial Cup on Saturday to join the top five in career rushing yards.
