No. 19 Clarkson hockey converted on three power plays Friday night in a 3-0 win over No. 15 Arizona State at Gila River Arena.
ASU went 0-of-8 on power plays on opening night of the Desert Hockey Classic, its first game of the season at the Arizona Coyotes' home.
Clarkson (10-6) will play No. 4 Minnesota Duluth at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the tournament title followed by ASU (14-7) vs. No. 3 Minnesota State at 7:30.
"We weren't ready to play," ASU coach Greg Powers said. "You always have a fear of sending your guys home for an extended period of time and regaining focus.
