TEMPE – Steven Champlin and Samantha Noennig led the way for Sun Devils at the second and final day of the Baldy Castillo Invitational as Champlin looked sharp on the track in his Sun Devil debut and Noennig finished as the top-collegian in the discus throw to open her outdoor campaign.
The All-American 400-meter runner lined up for his first race donning the pitchfork Saturday and didn't disappoint in his ASU debut. Champlin won the 400-meter dash in 46.80 seconds, nearly two seconds better than the second-place finisher.
"It was good to have Steven in a Sun Devil uniform open up the way he did," director of track and field Greg Kraft said.
