Defensive end Amiri Johnson of Diamond Ranch High School (Pomona, Calif.) committed to ASU tonight.
The 6-foot-6, 231-pounder had 11 offers, including ones from fellow Pac-12 contenders Oregon State and Utah. He made trips to Boise State and ASU, making two stops in Tempe with an unofficial trip the weekend of the first game of the season, and an official for the last home game against UCLA.
"I really liked the passion of the coaches," he said. "They have passion for the game but also for us as players. I could tell they are all about developing us not just as football players but as people, too, so we're successful even after we're out of the game.
