Bob Breunig walked off the football field for the final time as an Arizona State student-athlete on Dec. 7, 1974, following a 26-3 win over Hawaii. While at the time the 21-year-old envisioned his journey as a Sun Devil coming to a close, he would come to learn over the years that this moment was simply the end to one chapter of a lengthy story.
He often thinks back on his four years in Tempe, fondly remembering the two Fiesta Bowl championships and a career that resulted in immortality in the College Football Hall of Fame. But his thoughts inevitably drift toward the things that are truly special to him: meeting his wife, Mary, earning a degree in business marketing, forging lifelong bonds with his teammates and classmates, finding his faith, positively impacting his community.
