Odds are, Bobby Hurley will leave Arizona State one day to coach at some greener pasture. It happens to just about everyone, right? If Roy Williams could leave Kansas for North Carolina, and if Lute Olson could leave Iowa for Arizona, then Hurley departing ASU seems inevitable.
Here’s the thing, though: Hurley going to St. John’s doesn’t make any sense, because of what we can call the “Calhoun Principle.”
Jim Calhoun could have become a legend in his home stomping ground of Greater Boston. He could have enjoyed continued success at Northeastern, where he coached 14 years and took the Huskies to the NCAA basketball tournament five of his last six seasons.
