DALLAS - Arizona State sophomore running back Eno Benjamin has been named a preseason candidate for the Doak Walker Award, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Wednesday morning. The Forum annually presents the award to the nation's top college running back.
Benjamin, a native of Wylie, Texas, appeared in 10 games for the Sun Devils last season, accumulating 142 yards on 23 carries. He recorded his first collegiate touchdown against Colorado, an outing that saw the freshman record five carries including an electrifying 19-yard touchdown run.
Benjamin followed his breakout performance against Colorado into the following week where he returned a blocked punt nine yards for a touchdown against UCLA, marking his first career special teams touchdown.
