TEMPE, Ariz. – In their first game of a double-header, the Sun Devil water polo team defeated Wagner College, 13-3, on Sunday morning at the Mona Plummer Aquatics Center.
Employing a well-balanced attack, seven Devils scored against the Seahawks. Senior Alkistis Benekou led the attack with four goals and sophomore Maud Koopman followed not far behind with three on the morning.
The Devils got on the board early, often exploiting the Wager defense into a favorable one-on-one situation with the goalie. Junior Lena Mihailovic got the scoring started in the first period after she sprinted to the goal and muscled a pass into the net.
