TUCSON - Sun Devil Baseball (8-9, 2-2 Pac-12) mounted a two-out ninth-inning rally to come back and defeat rival Arizona (7-9, 2-2 Pac-12) in the opener of its Pac-12 series on Friday night in Tucson.
Arizona State looked like it had - quite literally - thrown the game away in the eighth on a failed pickoff error that led to the go-ahead run for the Wildcats and a 2-1 lead. Down to the team's final out, Jacob Tobias, Josiah Cromwick and Ethan Mendoza strung together three consecutive hits to claim ASU's first lead of the game at 3-2.
