LOS ANGELES - Sun Devil Baseball picked up one of its top pitching performances of the season to take the series opener, 5-3, on the road at UCLA on Friday evening at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles.
Ben Jacobs gave ASU (18-21, 8-11 Pac-12) 5.0 solid innings in the start, striking out eight and allowing just two runs - both in the first inning - to earn the victory. Matt Tieding tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief for the hold while Ryan Schiefer held on for a two-inning save - his team-leading third of the year.
