Arizona State's Turner Washington won shot put Wednesday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Washington, a redshirt junior, threw 21.10 meters (69 feet, 2.75 inches) to win his second national title this year. He also was NCAA Indoor shot put champion in March.
Favored Washington won over Adrian Piperi of Texas at 20.71 (67-11.50) and Arizona's Jordan Geist (20.40/66-11.25). Geist also was eighth in hammer throw.
Washington is ASU's fifth men's outdoor national shot put champion since 2009, joining Ryan Whiting and Jordan Clarke who won two each. Shane Collins also won the event in 1990.
