The college football season gets underway in just over a month and the game's top award watch lists are beginning to be released.
The first two awards among the series of watch lists are the Maxwell and Bednarik awards were released on Monday, which respectively list Arizona State's Eno Benjamin and Merlin Robertson.
The Maxwell Award honors college football's best all-around player. The 2018 winner of that award was Alabama junior and Heisman trophy candidate Tua Tagovailoa.
The Bednarik Award is given to the nation's top defensive player. Last season's winner was Jacksonville Jaguars rookie outside linebacker Josh Allen for his performance during his senior year at Kentucky.
