Arizona State's Emma Nordin swam a personal best in the 400-meter freestyle Thursday, winning at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Indianapolis.
Nordin, from Carmel, Indiana, won in 4:04.60, making her fifth fastest time in the world this year in an event led by fellow American Katie Ledecky. She edge Leah Smith of Tucson Ford Dealers Aquatics, second in 4:04.83. Sierra Schmidt, training in Scottsdale, was sixth in 4:10.07.
I felt great," Nordin said. "I feel comfortable with my training and I know what I came here to do. I’m pretty excited about things. I’m just pretty focused on what I’m doing right now and am having a good time.
