RENO, Nev.—Arizona State wrestling’s sixth-year senior Chace Eskam placed fifth at heavyweight at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday at the Reno Events Center.
Eskam bounced back from an opening-round, 2-1 loss to Illinois’ Brooks Black with a 17-3 major decision over Stanford’s Trevor Rasmussen. Eskam picked up his second major decision of the day, 12-3, over Cal Poly’s Cortes Morales, before he picked up a pair of decisions in the consolation round of eight, 5-2 over Newton Smerchek (Central Michigan), and SV 3-1 over Garrett Goldman (Indiana).
In the consolation round of four, Eskam defeated Central Michigan’s Adam Robinson, 3-2, before falling to Stanford’s Nathan Butler in a 6-0 decision in the consolation semifinals.
