Arizona State women’s basketball gave itself an early Christmas present Friday night, turning a listless first half into a stunning third quarter comeback in a 60-52 win over BYU.
ASU trailed 29-17 after giving up the first six points of the third quarter at Desert Financial Arena. The Sun Devils were shooting just 17.1 percent overall and 11.1 percent from 3-point at that juncture and appeared to have no answer for BYU’s length or zone.
But the Cougars unwisely chose to go back to man defense coming out of a timeout, helping ASU find a spark that led to 24-4 run over the remainder of the third quarter.
