TEMPE – In the final match of day one of the 2015 MPSF Women’s Water Polo Championship, #4 seed California outlasted #5 seed Arizona State, 5-4, at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on the ASU campus.
Trailing 5-1 in the final quarter, the Sun Devils put together a late rally to cut the lead all the way down to one score with 30 seconds left, but the comeback fell short as the horn sounded.
Izabella Chiappini scored two goals for the Sun Devils while Lena Mihailovic and Kaya Casas each recorded a score in the loss.
