A 159 yard performance from Stanford junior running back Bryce Love led the Stanford Cardinal (2-2) to a 24-17 lead over the Arizona State Sun Devils (2-2) at the half in Palo Alto.
Love quickly showed why he’s one of the best backs in the country during the Cardinal’s first drive, finding a huge gap in the defensive line and exploding through it for a 61-yard touchdown to give Stanford an early 7-0 lead just over 90 seconds into the first quarter.
The Cardinal were just a few yards away from doubling to their lead on their next possession before senior linebacker J’Marcus Rhodes made a heads-up defensive play to force a turnover.
