The plaque on the base of the statue reads: “Somewhere inside, we hear a voice. It leads us in the direction of who we wish to become. But it is up to us whether or not to follow.”
Those words came from Pat Tillman. On Wednesday, Arizona State unveiled a statue of Tillman, placed on the north side of Sun Devil Stadium, a dazzling touch to its recently completed football facility.
Starting with Thursday night’s season opener, each ASU player will leave the locker room, head down the “Tillman Tunnel” and touch the six-foot Tillman statue before storming onto Frank Kush Field.
