Over the next few weeks, I'll talk to Arizona State position coaches about what they learned from spring practice. Today: Receivers.
Coach: DelVaughn Alexander, fourth season at ASU.
State of the position: The Sun Devils lost last season's top receiver (Jaelen Strong) to the NFL Draft and their top deep threat (Cameron Smith) to a season-ending knee injury. Last year the two combined for 123 catches for 1,761 yards and 16 touchdowns. That's a lot of production to replace. To help, ASU moved senior D.J. Foster to receiver. Foster has played here in the past, but his primary duties have come at running back.
