Makenna Harper and Bella Loomis hit home runs for ASU, but that wasn't enough to offset the Hokies' 14 hits that included four from Kelsey Bennett and home runs by Cameron Fagan and Alexa Milius.
The Sun Devils (33-15) had to await the winner of the BYU-Southern Illinois game Friday afternoon for an elimination game Friday night. Arizona State defeated Southern Illinois 7-4 on Thursday night.
