TEMPE, Ariz. – Utah’s Katie Donovan came on in relief and shut the door on the No. 22 Arizona State offense for the second straight game as the Utes defeated the Sun Devils, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.
The freshman pitcher came on in the fourth inning after shortstop Chelsea Gonzales and designated hitter Amber Freeman each singled to lead off the frame. Donovan gave up only three hits in her four innings of relief.
The Utes (33-16, 11-10) took an early 1-0 lead after Shelby Pacheco knocked in Bridget Castro with an RBI single with two outs in the top of the second inning.
