The Arizona State Sun Devils were due to win a close one and they finally did, turning back visiting California 82-78 on Thursday night in Pac-12 play at Desert Financial Arena.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak, the longest in coach Bobby Hurley's six-year tenure. ASU's last win came on Dec. 13 against Grand Canyon 71-70, the difference in that game being a shot at the buzzer by Remy Martin.
Out of the six losses four of those were down to the buzzer and one was in overtime.
The Sun Devils (5-8, 2-5) led by as many as 12 points in the first half but trailed 30-29 at the half.
