The Oregon State men's basketball team came in to Thursday's showdown against Arizona State, leading the Pac 12 in field-goal percentage defense which didn't necessarily bode well for the Sun Devils who have had their offensive issues in recent games.
The Sun Devils fared better in some areas and not so much in others but hung on for a much-needed 70-67 win in conference play at Wells Fargo Arena.
ASU (12-5, 3-2) led by as many as 18 points in the second half but the outcome wasn't sealed until the final buzzer when sophomore guard Ethan Thompson, who had 21 points and five 3-pointers, air-balled a shot from long distance.
