Offensive lineman Sam Jones, who left Arizona State with a year of eligibility remaining, was selected by the Denver Broncos in Saturday's sixth round of the NFL draft. He was the 183rd overall pick.
For Jones, this is a homecoming of sorts. He's from Highlands Ranch, Colo., about 20 miles from Denver.
Jones (6-4, 305) started 13 games at left guard last season. He started 10 other games over the 2016 and 2015 seasons. Injuries sidelined him for a stretch of his sophomore season. He could play center in the NFL.
In a tweet announcing his decision in January, Jones called his time in Tempe the 'best years of my life.
