After potential inclement weather cancelled the Paintbrush Invitational in Denver, Arizona State men’s golf team scrambled to enter the Alister MacKenzie Inviational, hosted by the University of California Berkeley, where the Sun Devils were defending champions.
The 16-team, 54-hole shotgun began on Monday, Oct. 10, as ASU teed off at 8:15 a.m. with San Jose State, Minnesota and the University of San Diego. All teams played 36-holes on Monday and 18 more on Tuesday.
After the first day, the host team, California, took a commanding seven stroke lead (minus 29) over San Diego State, who sat at minus 22.
