Arizona State linebacker Koron Crump will return this season after being granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Crump announced his appeal was approved via social media Friday. His return is a major boost for ASU, which is losing defensive lineman JoJo Wicker and linebacker Christian Sam early to pro football in addition to departures of several senior starters.
Crump, 6-3, 222 pounds, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third game of his senior season. He missed 10 games in a 7-6 season, enough to warrant appealing for a medical redshirt.
In 2016, his first season at ASU after transferring from junior college, Crump made All Pac-12 second team.
