For most people, a rookie season with an ERA of 3.49 and 56 strikeouts in 59 1⁄3 innings pitched is a fantasy, but to right-handed relief pitcher Jake Barrett it was a reality.
Barrett, a native of Mesa, Ariz., played high school baseball at Desert Ridge High School and was originally drafted in the third round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Instead of signing, he elected to play college baseball at Arizona State University.
Time at Arizona State
Barrett played a total of three years in a Sun Devil uniform.
