In what early on looked like it could’ve been a sweep for Arizona State (4-13) turned out to be a penalty-abundant disaster as Colgate (4-9-4) beat the Sun Devils 3-2 on Saturday night at Oceanside Ice Arena.
Arizona State led 2-1 at the end of the first period. From then on, it was all Colgate who scored a goal in each of the next two periods to seal the win.
“I think we didn’t deserved to win tonight,” ASU head coach Greg Powers said. “They outworked us really from start to finish.”
Being outworked led to being outplayed, especially on special teams.
