ASU Hall of Famer & Track Olympian Henry Carr Passes Away

TEMPE, Ariz.—Former Arizona State track and field’s sprinter and Tokyo Olympian Henry Carr passed away last Friday, May 29. He was 73 years old.

Inducted into the ASU Hall of Fame in 1975, Carr won two gold medals in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. He won the 200m dash and also anchored the world record-setting 4x400m relay team with Ollan Cassell, Mike Larrabee, and Sun Devil teammate Ulis Williams.

At ASU, Carr won the NCAA title in the 220 yard dash in 1963, and earned an additional All-America accolade in the 100y dash. That same year, Carr won WAC titles in the 100y dash, the 200y dash, and as part of the 4x110y and mile relays.
