Merlin Robertson works ahead of schedule.
In only his second college game, the freshman linebacker showed the nation why he was one of the most sought-after members of Arizona State's 2018 recruiting class.
After a quiet debut against the Texas-San Antonio in Week 1, Robertson burst onto the scene in Week 2. He racked up nine tackles, 1 ½ sacks and one forced fumble, helping the Sun Devils upset Michigan State on Saturday 16-13.
For the performance, Robertson was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week.
It's not the first time Robertson has had to learn a new scheme, and how to succeed within it, quickly.
