When it was over, Ray Anderson stood in the north end zone, not far from the Pat Tillman statue and watched the celebration.
One by one, the Arizona State Vice President of Athletics shook hands with ASU’s assistant coaches as they walked off the field Saturday night.
“Billy,” Anderson said, extending his hand to offensive coordinator Billy Napier. “Thank you, brother.”
As the marching band began ASU’s alma mater, Anderson walked onto the field to find coach Todd Graham to congratulate him on the Sun Devils’ 37-35 win over No. 24 Oregon at Sun Devil Stadium.
