ASU football lands defensive standout from Philadelphia

The Arizona State football program has landed its 15th recruit for the 2021 cycle with the pledge of weak-side defensive end Eric Gentry out of Neumann Goretti High School in Pennsylvania.

He announced his decision Thursday on social media.

He becomes the seventh player added this month and the second of the day with Wisconsin native Marcus Mbow, an offensive lineman, committing earlier.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound defensive end chose ASU out of 20 offers. Pac-12 foes Washington and Oregon were among them. Out-of-conference suitors included Michigan State, Tennessee and Virginia.

Gentry, rated a three-star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports, was recruited by defensive coordinator Antonio Pierce as well as new defensive line coach Robert Rodriguez.
