Arizona State's best defensive player Thursday night was its new punter.
That according to no less an evaluator than defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales, who is notoriously hard to please and grumbled about plenty after a 30-7 win over Kent State.
"I thought we looked tired," Gonzales said. "I didn't think we tackled very well. That touchdown at the end was ridiculous. We should have shut them out. We need to get them in better shape. I wasn't happy with the second half."
Gonzales has a point about defensive regression in the second half.
