ASU basketball: Wells Fargo Arena wall stays in storage

Last winter, just as Arizona State was to begin Pac-12 basketball competition, school officials decided to remove the wall that had blocked off the upper rows of Wells Fargo Arena. At the time, this was seen as a temporary move designed to increase arena capacity, a wait-and-see approach on program popularity.

It’s not anymore.

Vice President of Athletics Ray Anderson told azcentral sports that the wall is not part of the program’s future. Not next season. Not ever.

“You didn’t take that thing down with the expectation that you’d have to suffer the embarrassment of putting it back up,” Anderson said Tuesday.
