LAWRENCE, Kansas – Shannon Evans hit the 3-pointer from the top of the key and as Kansas coach Bill Self walked onto the court, signaling a timeout, the Arizona State senior guard looked at his teammates and punched his chest.
For 20 minutes, ASU teetered at Allen Fieldhouse. The No. 16 Sun Devils fell behind early. They responded. They got within three at halftime. Then in the second half they went out and thumped the nation’s No. 2 Kansas, beating the Jayhawks 95-85 in front of Sunday’s sold-out crowd.
In securing one of the biggest recent wins in program history, ASU improved to 9-0.
