Arizona State was picked to finish sixth in the Pac-12's preseason poll. Now the Sun Devils are one of the biggest surprises in college basketball, and they are inching toward the program’s first No. 1 ranking.
ASU moved up two spots to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 released on Monday, leapfrogging preseason No. 1 Duke. It's the highest AP ranking in program history.
The Sun Devils, like last week, received first-place votes in the poll. Top-ranked Villanova (45) and second-ranked Michigan State (15) collected the most first-place votes.
Duke, North Carolina, Miami, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Xavier and West Virginia round out the top 10.
